Megan Lancaster
To: Who It May Concern
I have been studying at Purdue University for close to 4 years now and will earn degrees in Creative Writing and Professional Writing upon graduation. I also have maintained a job where I work at least four days a week through my whole college career. Because of this I have learned how to multitask and how to put things in order of importance.
The Fall 2010 semester of my senior year I was given the opportunity to be involved with a magazine project in my computer-aided publishing class. This project allowed me to get a feel for what a career at a magazine or newspaper would be like. While it was overwhelming at first, I was able to get my bearing and performed the responsibility of being on the content team to my best ability. My responsibilities for the content team consisted of coming up with ideas for the articles, writing the articles and editing them. The interview that is enclosed is the interview that I conducted for the magazine project.
Although I started my time year at Purdue as a Creative Writing major and only took on Professional Writing a year ago, I have found that in Professional Writing is where my heart really lies. I really like how the major, itself, can apply to so many different fields and careers but I do feel like working a newspaper or a magazine is where I really feel like I could do my best work.
I would gladly answer any questions or supply any additional information to be considered for the job. Feel free to contact me at email mmlancas@gmail.com or by telephone at 765-418-3631.
